The Job Developer is a full-time role responsible for preparing YouthBuild participants for employment, securing job placements, and ensuring their retention in living-wage careers. This position plays a critical role in connecting young people (ages 16-24) with job opportunities primarily in construction and construction-related industries.
This position requires training in Washington, DC in March 2025.

The Job Developer is a full-time role responsible for preparing YouthBuild participants for employment, securing job placements, and ensuring their retention in living-wage careers. This position plays a critical role in connecting young people (ages 16-24) with job opportunities primarily in construction and construction-related industries. The Job Developer will build relationships with local employers, industry associations, and workforce partners, while closely collaborating with the Case Manager to provide holistic support to program participants.
• Develop and maintain partnerships that will provide career opportunities aligned with YouthBuild participants' interests and goals.
• Assist YouthBuild staff members and participants to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews.
• Meet with participants at regular intervals to learn their job and career goals or immediate needs.
• Plan and organize job search skills workshops, including interviewing, resume preparation, and other workforce readiness skills.
• Assist in marketing the program to potential employers, including developing and making presentations about YouthBuild.
• Ensure participants are prepared before going to job interviews and conduct follow-up assessments.
• Connect participants with viable job opportunities.
• Work closely with employers of participants to maximize participant employment retention and success.
• Provide evaluation, conciliation, and mediation between employer and employee post job placement.
• Network in the public and private sectors to promote awareness and enhance the reputation of the YouthBuild program.
• Contribute to YouthBuild program refinements in ways that meet employers’ needs and expectations.
• Attend weekly YouthBuild leadership/team meetings to ensure alignment with program goals.
• Explore opportunities to integrate arts, environment, and social enterprise into employment strategies as Hood Huggers Foundation continues to develop these concepts.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Network with local businesses, organizations, and employers to promote YouthBuild as a pipeline for skilled labor.
• Educate employers on inclusive hiring practices, emphasizing the strengths and potential of YouthBuild graduates.
• Facilitate workshops on workplace readiness, financial literacy, and career planning.
• Work with YouthBuild staff to incorporate soft skills training, leadership development, and community engagement into the employment preparation process
• Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, social work, business, or related field, OR equivalent experience in job development, workforce training, or case management.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in job placement, career coaching, or workforce development, preferably with disconnected youth or young adults.
• Strong knowledge of the construction industry, apprenticeship programs, and employer networks.
• Experience working with marginalized communities and youth facing employment barriers.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including case management and instructional staff.
• Comfort working in diverse business and corporate settings to advocate for YouthBuild participants.
• Strong organizational and data-tracking skills to monitor job placements and employment outcomes.
• Commitment to Hood Huggers Foundation’s mission and interest in integrating arts, environment, and social enterprise into workforce strategies.
• Reports to: Executive Director, Hood Huggers Foundation
• Full-time, grant-funded position under YouthBuild (3+ years)
• Must attend weekly YouthBuild leadership/team meetings
• Some evening or weekend hours may be required for job fairs and community events.
• Salary: $45,000 - 48,000 plus benefits, depending on experience.
